You'd think they'd let you save 5 custom outfits at least too.
Go to the change clothes chest and tab over to the left over outfits and it will take you to saved.
You can only save 4 outfits on the horse without losing any. At first i thought it was the installed mods (whyem's dlc, rdoffline, law); Custom outfits 1 and 2 simply do not exist anymore. You can only have four outfits saved.
Once saved, go to the saved outfits and then select ones you want to be available via your horse saddle. At around the start of act 3, you can no longer save four custom outfits. I can only store 3 saved outfits but i can also store 2 purchased outfits. I believe it's five custom outfits that you can create and save in your wardrobe back at camp but you can only bring three with you on your horse.
You can save custom outfit one, custom outfit two, and custom outfit four. for some reason, custom outfit three is no longer a thing that exists in the rdr2 universe.
The 5th custom one is dynamic which if stored on saddle keeps changing with your putting bandanas on and off, buying new clothes accessories etc. You need to clear your saved outfits to save another one. I thought you could save more to the wardrobe. A couple weeks ago, i started having trouble with saving outfits when i couldn't save an outfit as saved outfit two.
In story mode you can only save 4x custom outfits. So, if you make 3 outfits, and save them to your horse, then go to outfits in your wardrobe and save to horse, you can actually save 5 outfits. I was able to do it both yesterday and today. We recommend that players make sure that they have an open custom outfit slot available and play through the game.

If you equip the clothes from your horse, it'll disappear and you will have to stow in back again. I could still save 3 outfits, so i was fine with it. Maybe try deleting all of your custom outfits, remove all outfits from the store on horse section, change into a preset like the summer gunslinger, and create a new save file. Anybody else have this problem or have a fix?
I really just start from scratch every time i get bored with his outfit Wardrobe > outfits section > highlight the one that says custom and then press save. Yesterday i was able to tweak the grizzlies outfit and make it my cold weather outfit while still retai. You have to delete one.
I can delete all custom outfits and try to save them again, same problem.
Deleting 3 and 4 and making new outfits simply saves them as 3 and 4 again. Some players have reported that the issue resolves itself after additional playtime and can be made worse by deleting all of their custom outfits. To prevent the glitch, do not delete a custom outfit from your horse's inventory. Apparently, you’re supposed to be able to save four custom outfits, but i can only save three.
You can only save the 4 to the horse. Outfits can be acquired in many different ways. I try saving custom outfits, it will only save custom 3 and 4. It always saved under saved outfit three, which bothered me, but i figured it would go away.

Outfits are sets of clothing that can be worn by the player in red dead redemption 2. Unlike the outfits in the original red dead redemption, the individual clothes of each outfit are available as separate clothing items, allowing players to freely mix & match them. I have the same issue, but. When i delete all of the saved outfits to start over, it always saves my first outfit as ‘saved outfit two,’ rather than ‘saved outfit one.’
I want to save outfits but i can't for some reason. If you buy the big saddle bags you can hold 5 on your horse. 5 custom outfits is the limit, and you can stow 5 outfits on your horse as a quick equip. Red dead redemption 2 has so many outfits and accessories to unlock, buy, try on, mix and match that you’ll easily find yourself playing dress up with morgan instead of pulling capers.
It seems to work for me on a ps4.
I can't save any new outfits because save outfit is grayed out.
